It’s Publication Day for Falling for You at Kelsea Sands!
Today is publication day for Falling for You at Kelsea Sands, the second in the Kelsea Sands series which is set in a remote village on the Holderness coast in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
This time we’re focusing on Jenna, the daughter of Alison who was the main protagonist of Take Me Home to Kelsea Sands. Jenna didn’t come across all that well in the first book, and readers may have wondered why she behaved the way she did, and why she sometimes seemed so selfish.

In this book, I hope I’ve answered those questions. Jenna has been struggling for years in a marriage that’s certainly not all it appears to be to outsiders. Her confidence is at an all-time low, and when her husband, Joel, does something that she’s dreaded for years, she is completely floored.
If not for the fact that she has twin daughters to consider, Jenna might well curl up in a ball and hide away from the world. But it’s the summer holidays and she’s determined that Hallie and Ada will have a fun time, however heartbroken and lost she’s feeling.
Luckily for Jenna, her mum is more than willing to welcome her to her new home, Watersmeet, in Kelsea Sands, and her mum’s new partner, Mac, is delighted to have Jenna and the twins stay with them.
Meanwhile, over at The North Star, Sam is struggling with his dad’s behaviour. Seb seems to have given up all hope and all interest in life since the death of his wife (Sam’s mum), three years earlier. Sam took over the pub to ensure that his dad didn’t sell it and regret it later, but now he’s beginning to realise that life is passing him by, and since Seb shows no signs of taking the reins again, he’s decided it’s probably time that he accepts defeat and lets his dad put The North Star on the market.
Sam is a good man and he loves Kelsea Sands, but he’s lonely and feels life is passing him by. His best friend, Luke, is married and settled with two children, and Sam wants that for himself. Where is he going to meet someone buried away at Yorkshire’s version of Land’s End?
Footpath by the Humber - at the ‘real’ Kelsea Sands!
As I’m sure you can imagine, Sam and Jenna meet and help each other out in various ways. Their interactions bring them both comfort and happiness, and eventually lead to deeper feelings. But Jenna is still married and still clings to her belief that she loves Joel. And when her husband remembers that he’s married, will Jenna be pulled back into the life she’s familiar with, or will she find the courage to make a new and happier life for herself?
I really loved writing this book, and felt so much for Jenna and Sam, who are both good people caught in bad situations. Readers of The Other Side of Christmas will recognise Weltringham, the next village to Kelsea Sands, as the home of Luke and Katy Ingledew. And Luke and Katy make a few appearances in this book, too, because Luke is Sam’s best friend. Always good to catch up with my old characters and see how they’re doing!

I hope you enjoy Falling for You at Kelsea Sands. It’s available in all formats on all platforms, and you can request it at libraries and order it from bookshops. Meanwhile, I’m working on the third in the series and loving being back at my remote Holderness village once again. I’ve grown so fond of the Wainwright, the Macmillan and the Hughes families. I can’t wait to see what’s happening in Kelsea Sands next!
Happy reading.
