I’ve Signed a Contract with Boldwood Books!

Hello, and welcome to my blog which is slightly later than usual for reasons I’m about to explain.

As you can see from the title, I have big news! I’ve signed a contract with Boldwood Books and I couldn’t be happier or more excited about it. But honestly, it’s been agony not being able to tell you all and it felt as if I was never going to get permission to do so. Then I got an email last week telling me that the announcement was being made on Tuesday 8th October and that, after that, I was free to shout it from the rooftops. So here I am!

I got a “yes” from my lovely new editor, Francesca, in mid-June, and I signed the contract in early July. It’s for twelve books. Yes, you read that right. TWELVE BOOKS! That should keep me busy for the next three years anyway.

So what will I be writing for Boldwood?

Well, as you can see from the announcement above, I’ll be writing a contemporary romance series with a magical twist. Sort of. But it’s not witches this time. This series will begin with my heroine having a complete change in her circumstances and moving to the most gorgeous and amazing village in the Cotswolds that’s really not your typical village. It’s a tourist destination for a very special reason that makes it stand out from the other beautiful Cotswold villages and draws the visitors in.

But what the tourists don’t know is that the village is also the home of rather a lot of ghosts - and my heroine can see them all!

These books will be written in a very similar style to my others. They’re not scary or dark or anything like that. There’s a beautiful setting, a heartwarming romance, family, friendships, community, humour… All the things you’ve come to expect from my books. Just that there are also ghosts - and they’re all very different and from various eras, with their own personalities and their own stories to tell. And frankly, I can’t wait to tell them.

I’ve been working hard on book one which is due to be sent to my editor next week, and it will be published in February 2025!

But that’s not all. I’m also contracted to write a second series for Boldwood. This will be a contemporary romance series set on the Holderness coast in East Yorkshire, and since I’ve been thinking about at least two of these stories for years I’m really looking forward to having the chance to write them at last!

I think - although it may change - that the first in that series will be out at the end of 2025.

I was sworn to secrecy, as I said, but I’ll admit I did confide in a few trusted friends who I knew I could rely on to keep quiet. And they did.

I was so chuffed to get congratulations gifts from some of them, too.

Thank you to Jo Bartlett, who sent me this cute little Positive Potato.

And to Eliza J Scott for the beautiful flowers.

And to my bestie, Jessica Redland, who really spoilt me with all these gorgeous ghostly gifts and a card that I’ve still got sitting on a shelf in my office.

I’m still pinching myself that I get to be Boldwood buddies with Jessica and Jo and my other Write Romantics friends, Helen Rolfe and Alexandra Weston. It’s just incredible.

Well, that’s my latest news, and I hope you’ll agree it was worth writing a blog post for.

Have a great week!
