It’s Publication Day for Coming Home to Tuppenny Bridge
Today, July 8th 2024, is a big day! It’s publication day for the penultimate book in my Tuppenny Bridge series.
Yes, Coming Home to Tuppenny Bridge (aka Book Four) is out today!
I will admit that this one was a devil to write. I don’t know why. I knew the story. I felt I knew the characters. I had a beginning and I knew just how I wanted it to end. Yet, for some reason, I really struggled to put down on screen what was in my head.
In despair, I confided in my friend, Jessica, over a pub lunch. I told her how rubbish the book was and how I was completely stuck at 40,000 words, and not feeling the love. I honestly felt as if it would never be written.
She told me to whizz it over and promised to give me her honest opinion. Since I’ve been on the receiving end of her honest opinions before (!) I knew I could trust her to tell me the bitter truth, so I duly obliged.
A few days later an email pinged into my inbox with a message that basically said, “What’s wrong with you, woman? It’s brilliant. I love it and I need to know what happens next, so get on with it!”
Funnily enough, that seemed to do the trick. With a tiny seed of confidence planted, the doubt was quickly suppressed, and I set to work. After that, the story flowed, and I totally fell in love with my two leading characters and the entire story.
So here it is at last, and I really hope you all enjoy it.
Trust me when I tell you, these have to be tasted to be believed!
I’ve received my delicious Storm brownies, baked by Browniegod, and oh my word they are truly fantastic. I’ve also had another tree planted by TreeNation in my name, thanks to the Storm team. I think that’s such a lovely idea, don’t you?
I can’t believe there’s just one more visit to Tuppenny Bridge ahead of us. I’m already working on the edits of that, and I’ve been batting ideas back and forth to my editor while we try to come up with a title for Book Five.
For now though, the stage belongs entirely to Coming Home to Tuppenny Bridge, and to Clive and Bethany. I hope you enjoy reading about the residents and goings-on at Whispering Willows, and I should perhaps warn you that you might need a tissue for this one. I certainly did while I was writing it!
Happy reading.
