Tuppenny Bridge
Where the gossip is fresh, the romance is blooming, and the past is catching up
My eighth series, set in a picturesque market town famous for its annual sheep fair and connections with the art world. Tuppenny Bridge is inspired by one of my favourite Yorkshire towns, Masham.
Head to Lower Skimmerdale in the Yorkshire Dales and meet the fabulous residents of the charming and picturesque market town of Tuppenny Bridge - not least the colourful Lavender Ladies! These books can be read as standalone, however there is an overall series arc and they are best read in order.
COMPLETED SERIES
Book 1 ~ Summer in Tuppenny Bridge
It’s July in Tuppenny Bridge. The warm air swirls with butterflies and violets tumble from the window boxes of the pretty stone cottages lining the market square. Summer Fletcher is ready for a lazy summer in the Yorkshire Dales, but fate has other plans…
Summer and her mum soon find their hands full with the arrival of her future stepsister, Frankie – a blue-haired teen firecracker who's nothing like the sweet little girl they remember. Meanwhile, local vet Ben is struggling – buried under a mountain of responsibility with trying to keep his crumbling family home Monk’s Folly standing, while supporting his reclusive mother and errant younger brother.
When Summer and Ben unexpectedly cross paths in the local bookshop, sparks fly… but despite Summer’s name, it isn't all sunshine and roses. In Tuppenny Bridge, gossip travels fast, and each of them has their own demons they can’t quite leave behind. Will the weight of their pasts tear them apart just when they need each other the most?
With more than one heart in need of mending, a beloved old horse named Shadow, a missing pair of young lovers, and a family wedding on the cards – it will be a summer that the residents of Tuppenny Bridge will never forget.
Book 2 ~ Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge
Kat Pennyfeather knows the joys and challenges of parenthood all too well – she’s been thrown into the deep end as a single, first-time mother to adorable baby Hattie. With the unwavering support of her beloved great aunties, affectionately known as The Lavender Ladies, and the sanctuary of her cosy home above Pennyfeather's Wool Shop, Kat is holding things together…. mostly.
Across town, Jonah Brewster finds himself navigating the treacherous path of single parenthood after a painful divorce and unexpected loss. Jonah longs for stability, but the last thing he wants are the blind dates his well-meaning sister is constantly thrusting upon him.
When Kat and Jonah unexpectedly reconnect in the Market Café, something sparks between them. They’ve known each other for years, but now there’s a newfound understanding there… and, at least for Kat, something else too. But their shared past holds more than comfortable friendship – a terrible tragedy and some difficult unspoken truths. Can Kat and Jonah defy the odds and embrace an unexpected chance for happiness?
Meanwhile, The Lavender Ladies are making their own secret plans. Kat, well aware of their mischievous ways, hopes that whatever it is won’t put her job in the wool shop at risk. But when the truth is finally revealed, it’s so much worse than she thought. What on earth is she going to do now?
Book 3 ~ Snowflakes and Surprises in Tuppenny Bridge
In Tuppenny Bridge, fresh snowfall carpets every cottage roof, turning the town into a shimmering wonderland of white. Beside a roaring fire in The White Hart Inn, rosy-cheeked families gather over mugs of hot chocolate. But despite the happy faces all around her, Clementine Grant can barely manage a smile…
Clemmie has always been a romantic at heart, even going so far as to write her own regency romance novels… not that she’d EVER let anyone read them. But all that goes out the window when she spots her ex-boyfriend, Ross Lavender, across the frosty village green at a concert.
Even worse, Clemmie is mortified when, in the village raffle, she picks the winning ticket. The prize? A portrait painted by Ross himself, who is a talented local artist. Burning with shame, Clemmie tries unsuccessfully to give it back. She’d rather forget the portrait and the man behind it – no way does she want to spend hours alone together.
But then an unexpected snowstorm traps Clemmie and Ross in close quarters, and old emotions and secrets emerge from beneath the ice. With Clemmie’s sweet Aunt Dolly clearly keeping something from her, and a potential new suitor – the charming Reuben Walker – stirring the pot, Clemmie’s future is at a terrifying crossroads.
Will the promise of new beginnings, help bridge the distance between two people who thought it was over for good? Or will the weight of the secret Clemmie’s been carrying ever since they split up prove too heavy for her to bear?
Pour a warm mug of cocoa, wrap yourself in a snuggly blanket, and dive into a story where love and secrets collide in the heart of Tuppenny Bridge.
Book 4 ~ Coming Home to Tuppenny Bridge
Spring has arrived in Tuppenny Bridge. Daffodils line the cobbled streets and perfume the air with the sweet smells of the season. But for Bethany Marshall, coming home unearths a past she has spent thirty years desperately trying to forget…
When Bethany learns that her estranged brother, Joseph, has died, she’s devastated. Returning home to Tuppenny Bridge is the last thing she wants to do, but she has no choice.
Making her way over the River Skimmer, rain coats the windscreen as she looks out at landscapes she hasn’t seen for over three decades. Happier times flash through her mind – birthday laughter, glimmering Christmas lights and her precious big brother, before he broke her heart. And now, with him gone, so is any hope of an apology…
To Bethany’s dismay, her childhood home, Whispering Willows, has been converted into a horse sanctuary and the animals, as well as the house, are now in her care.
Bethany has one goal in sight – sell the property before the past catches up with her. It’s not going to be easy: the house has been neglected, the stables are falling apart and then there’s Clive Browning, her brother’s best friend. His presence, at first unwanted, begins to stir up emotions in Bethany that she’s never felt before.
But just when Bethany starts to accept that there may be hope for a new beginning in Tuppenny Bridge, a shattering revelation comes to light, making Bethany question all she thought was true…
