As it’s almost Mother’s Day here in the UK, I thought I’d choose some books about mothers. So here are six books, including a collection of short stories, a romcom, and much-loved classics, plus a few of my own books where motherhood is strongly featured.

It took me a while but I finally got round to reading Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. Then I watched the film. Here are my thoughts on both.
